Louth Santa Run Set to Bring Festive Cheer and Raise Funds for Cancer Research

The Louth community is preparing for their second annual Santa Run for Life, an event set to fill the town’s streets with hundreds of Santa-clad participants. Taking place on Sunday 7 December at 11:00 GMT, the run will begin at the market place, offering participants the choice of a 2 km or 4 km route. All proceeds will be donated to Cancer Research UK.

The event is organised by Louth Run for Life and Louth Rotary. Their previous event was a spectacular display of community spirit, with 400 Santas creating a significant stir in the town. The organisers are eager to establish this as an enduring annual tradition. The course route takes participants around St James’ Church, with options to run, jog, or walk.

Since it began, Louth Run for Life has raised approximately £950,000 and aims to exceed the £1 million mark this year. A representative from Louth Rotary stated that a key mission of Rotary International is combating disease, and this event plays a vital role in supporting crucial cancer research while also unitifying the community.

The event is inclusive, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities, including a wheelchair-friendly course. Registration, which provides a Santa suit, race number, and finisher’s medal, will be closing on Sunday 23 November.

Simon West, chairman of Louth Run for Life, shared his excitement about the event, reflecting on the festive atmosphere of the previous year and expecting an even larger crowd this year.
