Pinchbeck Florist Blooms with Five Million Asters to Meet Demand

L&D Flowers, located in Pinchbeck near Spalding, Lincolnshire, has taken the lead in a floral resurgence, growing a staggering five million asters to satisfy escalating demand. The firm, known as the UK’s foremost asteroids producer, has witnessed an astounding 350% surge in demand over the preceding two years, predominantly from significant retailer Tesco. The company’s Managing Director, James Lacey, has expressed astonishment at the swift increase in popularity for these flowers, reminiscent of the Victorian era.

Cultivated in Lincolnshire’s rich grade one silt soils, which aids in preserving moisture during summer heatwaves, these blossoms have become crucial to the business’s operations. In 2022, L&D Flowers managed to produce enough asters for 100,000 bunches, which sold out expeditiously. In a remarkable development this year, they have expanded to provide 1.2 million bunches, indicating a staggering 1,100% rise in production. The asters, renowned for their vibrant hues, have now become a popular element in floral displays throughout the UK.
