Scunthorpe Elves Dash for Mental Health Awareness in Festive 5k

Over 140 spirited individuals, garbed in elf-themed attire, participated in the first-ever Scunthorpe Mental Elf 5k Festive Fun Run, held at Central Park. This charitable event, arranged by North Lincolnshire MIND, was aimed at improving fund flow for MIND Mental Health Charity while emphasising the crucial role of consistent physical activity in preserving mental health. Jurate Klusaite of the charity underlined the essentiality of regular exercise, especially amidst the chill, gloomy winters, as a potent strategy for maintaining mental health. Notably, these runs are a regular feature across England and Wales during November and December.

Chloe Jaksics, a fellow member of North Lincolnshire Mind, shared that the charity provides daily support groups and an evening phone service to aid those who find the yuletide season hard to cope with. The event witnessed a diverse group of participants. Patrick McKee attended with the objective of raising awareness on mental health difficulties, specifically in the male population. Despite experiencing a minor setback with her costume, Dee Macam, dressed as Santa, joined the fun run to support the endeavour.

This campaign represents Lincolnshire’s wider attempt to nurture a nurturing community, all the while notifying its residents of the resources at their disposal during the festive period.
