Social media predator who targeted Grimsby girl sentenced

A man has received a prison sentence exceeding 12 years after travelling to Grimsby with the intent of abusing an underage girl. Humberside Police referred to Christian Sollitt, 46, as an online manipulator, having leveraged power over his victim through extensive messaging. Sollitt was convicted of 13 sexual offences, encompassing sexual engagement with a minor and the generation of illicit material, at Grimsby Crown Court. His punishment sees him serving 12 years and 6 months behind bars, with an addition of 18 months on licence. His name has also been added to the sex offenders register indefinitely. Furthermore, a 15-year sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order have been instituted. Detective Sergeant Sacha Harvey, heading the case, conveyed that Sollitt initiated contact with the victim inspite of critical warnings from law enforcement and a child abduction notice. The victim, who is now an adult, has had to endure a lengthy period awaiting justice to safeguard others from Sollitt’s depraved actions.
